Facial hair removal
Everything written on our website about laser hair removal in general also applies to facial hair removal. However, there are a few important additional things to know:
Only in the winter, and not (or with extra caution) on dark skin types
Sun on the face is unavoidable in the summer. UV-rays will always penetrate through sunscreen, no matter the SPF value. A tanned skin can cause side effects like burns or stains. For this reason we do not perform treatments on the face in the summertime. We only perform these treatments from mid-October until March or April. Also, if you wish to start treatment in October, it’s best to start wearing a shade providing hat or cap in August.
If you have a dark skin type, we will only perform treatment on your face after thorough testing on your body. After having familiarized ourselves with your skin and if the tests were successful, we will carefully start treatment. Look on the page dark skin types for more information. Better safe than sorry!
Testing on the body prior to treatment
We will first perform a test (or if necessary several tests) on your body before starting treatment on your face. If you are a new customer it’s advised to start contacting us in September, so we have many winter months left for treatment after the testing period.
Only dark and thick hair
Grey, blonde, red or vellus (the very thin hardly visible hair) hair is almost impossible to remove because of the lack of pigment in the hair. We will not perform treatment on vellus hair, the result can be counterproductive.
More treatments are needed than on the body
Hair on the face is often more stubborn than on the body. Facial hair follicles are more sensitive to hormonal changes in the body. After the initial treatment trajectory, you will most likely need a maintenance treatment every now and then.
