How long after the test will I notice results?
In 75% of cases hair will continue to grow another 4.5 millimeters and then start falling out after approximately 2 weeks. In actuality the hair is not growing anymore but the body is just pushing out the remaining stub. In the following 3 weeks the area will continue to get smoother as more hairs will fall out.
In 25% of the cases hair growth will even stagnate immediately. Some burned stubs might still be visible in the pores. These will disappear naturally over time.
A combination of these effects is also a possibility.
After 3 to 4 weeks, it is best to stop shaving in order to observe the difference in hair growth between the area we did test and the area we did not test. We will contact you 3 weeks after the intake appointment to evaluate the situation and, if you wish, schedule an
appointment for treatment. If the effect of the test is not clear to you or if you or in doubt and wish to see the cumulative effect of the treatment, you may come back for a second test. We might adjust settings on our equipment accordingly.
A month after the test a new batch of hair will start growing. These hair follicles were dormant during the test and thus could not possibly have been eliminated. If another treatment is not being conducted, the test area will look like it did before after approximately 2 – 3 months. Only when treatment is repeated a permanent effect can be achieved.
How many treatments will I need?
In most cases, men need more treatments than women. For women a good result will (most likely) be achieved after 4 – 7 treatments, whereas men will often need 6 – 8 treatments. It’s important to realize, however, that a 100% reduction is not possible.
A younger person will also need more treatments. A young body is still planning on producing many new batches of hair in the future due to rapidly changing hormones. Young men (between ages 18 and 28), in particular, need many maintenance appointments after the treatment trajectory to make the result permanent. Hair will often continue to grow back.
Another factor is your personal goal. Are the remaining hairs still bothering you? Or perhaps the few remaining (often thin and light) hairs do not bother you at all and you’re satisfied after a certain amount of appointments. If your goal is a very smooth result, you will most likely need one or two maintenance appointments a year after your initial treatment trajectory.
On other websites I read that one does not need that many treatments. Does Briez work different or slower?
No. There are those very fortunate people who have a certain type of hair/skin and naturally don’t need many appointments, in our practice we see those as well. The websites advertise with these most favorable cases, however, this is not realistic for the majority of people no matter what type of hair removal equipment is being used. False advertising in our eyes.
Briez works with all methods of hair removal and we’ll choose the best one for you. We’ve been working with these methods since 2003 and know how to achieve the most effective result in the quickest way. For example, achieving a permanent result in only 3 treatments is very unlikely (if not impossible), since batches of hair appear in different cycles and not all cycles will have been active at this point. It’s simply impossible to target dormant hairs. No method of treatment can speed up the end result. We can not change the natural cycle of hair growth.
How long will the total treatment trajectory be?
Hairs have to be targeted in their most vulnerable state. After each treatment we will have to wait until a new batch of vulnerable hair has grown in order to perform the next treatment, in most cases there will be approximately 10 weeks between treatments. The treatment trajectory will last until all the living hairs have appeared at one point or another, often during a period of 1.5 years. Thus, a treatment trajectory will most likely take at least 1.5 years to achieve a good result. However, every case is different.
Will I still be bothered by unwanted hairs for a long time after the initial treatment?
No, you will not. You can start enjoying the results quite soon after your first treatment. Several weeks after a treatment hairs will start falling out or grow very slowly. After only one treatment you’ll see a beautiful smooth result after only several weeks. This result will only get better and more permanent as we continue with treatments.
So the hairs will never return?
How much hair will remain after the treatment trajectory?
Our goal is to eliminate between 70 and 90% of all hairs. The remaining hairs are often very soft and light and in most cases not very noticeable. Some areas are more difficult to treat, the chin, neck, upper lip, upper back, feet, hands and the pubic area. Here more treatments and maintenance treatments are needed.
